The ON BEING CHRISTIAN Podcast
provides weekly episodes of Bible centered, Christ honoring messages for encouragement and edification of Christians.
Being a Christian isn’t about what you label yourself as, it’s about your relationship with Christ and how that relationship motivates you to live for the cause of Christ.
033 | BeAttitudes #4
It would seem that at times we claim the title "Christian", while at the same time we desire things that God's Word says we ought not desire. This episode is about the reality that what we pursue tells us a lot about ourselves and what we actually believe.
032 | BeAttitudes #3
This week's episode of the Podcast is about meekness. I believe the definition of meekness has been drastically watered down, even changed, in accordance with our "modern" non-confrontational culture. Meekness as described by the Bible has much more to do with strength and confidence, coupled with an appropriate approach to difficult situations. My prayer is Episode #32 will be blessing to you!
031 | BeAttitudes #2
The reality of mourning for the Christian is that there is comfort on the other side, when through the victory of Christ we choose not to live broken, victimized lives. Episode #31 is all about the fact that those who mourn can be comforted. God Bless!
030 | BeAttitudes #1
The first 12 verses of Matthew chapter 5 give us a selection of characteristics that the Bible says are blessed. This is part #1 of a series on what is commonly known as the "BeAttitudes". There's a lot of value in the attribute which the Bible defines as "the poor in spirit". I hope you enjoy episode #30!
029 | Believing = Rejection or Acceptance
Popular Christianity today says that it is just about "believing" and nothing more. The Bible says the devils believe, and more than that, they tremble. This episode is about the fact that belief without confession/repentance is just head knowledge, while true Christianity is about heart knowledge.
028 | Leadership = Service
Service is a privilege and true leadership benefits others more than self. Things can be managed, but people must be led. Leading people takes love and love takes sacrifice. This episode is about a man named David, who understood this principle.
027 | Godly Sorrow VS Worldly Sorrow
There is a sorrow that is the result of being "caught in the act" (Worldly Sorrow), this sorrow does not come with any amendment to life; and then there is sorrow that comes from the shame of offending the Savior (Godly Sorrow), and this sorrow leads to repentance and an amendment to life. That's what episode #27 is all about.
026 | The Cup
The Bible records only one thing that Jesus Christ was ever afraid of. It was the separation from God the Father that Christ our Lord feared when He accepted the payment of the sin of the whole world. Listen with a glad heart for the Salvation of our Lord.
025 | Hear. Forgive. Heal.
Sometimes we seek answers to internal issues with external solutions. This week's episode is about the value of fixing those external issues with internal solutions. It's about understanding where true help comes from.
024 | Being Used
Being used according to the Bible has more to with God's will for your life and a whole lot less to do with what your hopes and aspirations may be. This week's episode is about understanding the importance of obedience to God, even over what your own personal goals might be.
023 | Rhetorical Questions
There are several instances within the Bible where the Lord asks questions of us, not because He's looking for answers, but rather because He intends for the self-evident truth of His questions to serve as a correction for our life. That's what this week's episode about "Rhetorical Questions" is all about.
022 | A Pastor’s Heart
There's a concept within the Word of God with respect to the importance of having a Pastor. The importance of a Pastor is not so much about the man, but rather the heart that God gives that man for you. Episode number 22 is all about the Pastor's heart, his joy, and his fear.
021 | Time Management
Unfortunately most of us can at times fall into the trap of responding to our environment, instead of being of the mindset of making our environment respond to us. Effective time management is about correctly controlling one of the most precious gifts that God has given you - TIME.
020 | The Value of Standing
Many times we're told that compromising (specifically compromising with things we know to be not true), is more valuable than standing (specifically when standing potentially will result in confrontation). However, the Bible has some truths about the value of standing, and even more than that - the requirement of standing! That's what this week's episode is all about.
019 | He Is Not Here
There are many different "gods" that humanity "worships", some are big, some are small, some made of gold, some made of our imagination. But the GOD (Jehovah/the Christ) is alive and loves you. This episode is about His resurrection; from death to life everlasting!
018 | One Thing
There are so many things that seem to demand so much of our time and attention, but there are a few things (or you might even say "one thing"), that form the foundation that all the rest is set upon. This episode is about getting past all the noise and getting grounded in the only thing that has ever mattered.
017 | If God, then Success
At times in life we have the tendency to over complicate things; the reality is that actions have reactions and choices have consequences. This week's episode is about how to make the choices that produce the desired results.
016 | What Seemeth Him Good
Most of the time we define what’s good and what’s bad as directly linked to whether we are benefited or not. This episode is about the good things that the Lord does that we may not understand but which are still good for us if we accept them.
015 | This Kind
There are issues and emotions in this life that can be well outside our capacity to deal with. It’s at these times when we realize how important a dependent connection with Jesus Christ our Saviour truly is.
014 | Biblical Leadership
The topic of leadership has become needlessly complicated; there are 100s of authors with 1000s of views on what leadership is. However, there is one verse in the Bible which lays out 6 specific characteristic which one man was known for concerning leadership.
